Troop 705 is sponsored by Fayetteville
Christian Church and is a Christ-centered Troop. This does not mean that you
have to be a Christian or a member of Fayetteville Christian Church to be a member of Troop 705. We welcome all faiths to the Troop. What being a Christ-centered
Troop means is that we operate under the tenets of our sponsor, Fayetteville Christian Church.
We open and close every meeting with prayer, we ask blessings on our meals and we pray for safety each time we depart
to and from outings. It means that we also conduct ourselves in such a manner
that will not disgrace Fayetteville Christian Church, the Boy Scouts of America, and our Troop.
Troop 705 is a boy-led Troop. Each Scout is afforded the opportunity to advance in rank, earn merit badges, serve
in leadership and just plain have fun. In addition to regular Troop meetings we
try to have at least two activities per month one of which is camping. We try
to camp every month except for the month following Summer Camp and December. We
camp in all types of weather except for hurricanes, blizzards, tornadoes, and earthquakes.
First and foremost we consider safety as our primary factor before departing on any trip.
Troop 705 is also a family Troop in that
we do several family activities each year which all family members are invited to participate in. We also request that at least one family member (a parent) to be involved with the Troop as either an Assistant
Scoutmaster or Committee Member. There are many areas that parents can be involved
in and without your assistance we cannot provide the boys a quality program. Please
contact either me or the Committee Chairperson about where you can assist.
Troop 705 meets at Fayetteville Christian
Church each Monday night of the month (except the 2nd Monday which is reserved for the Order of the Arrow meetings)
from 7 PM to 8:30 PM. We ask that each Scout try to arrive at the meeting about
10 minutes early so we can begin on time. We will strive to end on time as we
understand that it is a school night.
